48 x 36 x 3. 4 layers of plaster + concrete + sand + crystal quartz grounds + arizona rock pigment (glen canyon) on canvas housed in a handcrafted, natural maple wood frame. she is detailed with a piece of driftwood we found at Sullivan’s island, which I decorated delicately with black yarn. eternally fascinated with the diverseness of different textures and materials harmoniously united together like they were aligned to cohabitate.

for those who
walked before her,

who lead her to finally find solace by changing the way she views loneliness.
confronting that feeling of being completely lost when alone, stemming from running from self.
she didn’t feel alone, now knowing this feeling wasn’t uniquely tattooed to her.

those who shared the most intimate intrusive chatter, and invasive thoughts, those who debated with her, confronting her most immense fear of being imprisoned within her mind forever. then taught her how to quiet it. those who felt deeply reassured in the newfound love they grew for themselves, so much love overflowed, sharing it with her.

those who shared their darkest moments, comforting her with the knowledge they eventually found the light. those who knew it was the right decision to walk away, walked through grief, and made it to the other side to tell her it was worth the pain.

those who fought for women they haven’t met. those who drew a roadmap for her in case her battery started to die. those who looked at their pain as a reference letter for a job taking some of the weight of the unknown, off her shoulders.

those who proved to heal can be done. those who broke the silence to help her find her strength.

handcrafted paintings blurring the lines between art, poetry, and sculpture.

Artists Taylor and Connor Robinson handcraft textured sculptural paintings, and reliefs under their trade name visceral home. A composition experimenting with contrasting natural earth compounds and unnatural elements, focusing on representing the complexities of mental health and addiction disorders. The art they create during their meditative process is a personal reflective journey of healing parts of themselves they aim to encapsulate within the art itself to inspire vulnerability in the viewer. Armed with an inherent obligation to translate and transmute emotion into various art forms, the artists' intends to help de-stigmatize mental health by paring vulnerable written autobiographies alongside viscerally evoking art.

The Robinsons use a variety of natural and unnatural materials to story-tell within their works, including yet always expanding: plaster, concrete, rock pigment, exotic wood, driftwood, embroidered or hanging hand-spun yarn, healing crystals, iron, gemstone minerals, oil, rust, sand, and stone. The couple intimately brainstorms every project pushing each other creatively to create new conceptual designs that feel originally their own. Connor begins each project by building and stretching a canvas, using either linen or wood or metal. Taylor textures and details the work while Connor builds each painting a hand-crafted frame using a wide variety of wood species and woodworking techniques. To best honor their work. Taylor states her art has completely evolved by handcrafting each component, stressing the painting would not be the same if it were not housed in their signature framing style. The frame is a focal point of their art. Each piece is partnered with vulnerable poetry/autobiographies that are written during their creative process, in meditative reflection. Taking uncomfortable conversations that are rarely had, and using abstract expressionism as a euphemism.

The team uses their trade name, visceral home, to prevent conforming and or being known for one particular art form. They find themselves consistently expanding and evolving their technique, process, style, and concepts. In addition to sculptural wall art/installations, the team has been experimenting with building new conceptual furnishing designs. Expanding into furniture design is a focus for the couple, which they plan on launching in the near future.

With a deep love of interior design and architecture, they find themselves motivated by innovative spaces that merge together raw, textured, naturally influenced organic concepts with accents that outlast fast design trends in the new social media era. They often consider industrial modernism and organic soft scandinavian + asian influences while designing art projects. Keeping in mind the spaces their art lands will continue to morph into new personalities, they focus on creating art that can be everlasting through many design changes.
